Who we are

Two partners. You talk to the people doing the work.

Lake Missoula Ventures is Mike Haynes and Ryan Dewsnap. We both grew up in Franklin, Massachusetts. Mike now works from Austin, Texas, and Ryan from Massachusetts.

Between us we build websites, software and the systems behind them, and we run sales, outreach and marketing. The team that builds your site is the team that maintains it, measures it and answers your call.

The company is named for Glacial Lake Missoula, the Ice Age lake whose old shorelines still mark the hills around Missoula, Montana. Those lines are in our logo.

Mike Haynes

Co-founder and CEO · Austin, Texas

Scopes every project, maps how your team's work actually flows, and makes sure what we promise ships. You work with Mike directly from the first call to the finished product, in plain language.

Ryan Dewsnap

Co-founder and CTO · Massachusetts

A computer engineer who has built across the whole stack, from embedded systems and hardware to front-end and pure software. Ryan builds lean, right-sized systems that run quietly for years.

Services

What we do

One firm for the whole job: the site, the systems behind it, and the work of getting it in front of people.

  • Web design and development

Fast, standards-based sites with clear navigation, mobile-first layouts and structured data, so people, search engines and AI answer tools all find the right page.

  • Hosting and maintenance

Managed hosting, SSL, uptime monitoring, daily backups, security updates, and content changes on a schedule you set.

  • Accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA)

Built in from the first template: semantic markup, full keyboard support, color contrast, alt text and captions, accessible forms and documents.

  • Software and automation

Custom tools that remove manual steps: form routing, scheduled jobs, and integrations between the systems you already run.

  • Data and dashboards

Reporting that pulls from your existing systems into one view, so staff can answer questions without exporting spreadsheets.

  • Marketing and outreach

Search and AI-search visibility, email and text outreach, ads management, and the follow-up that turns inquiries into conversations.

  • AI

Practical AI through our Virescent practice: assistants that answer only from your own content, cite their sources and hand off to a person.

Public sector

Built for public agencies

A public website has to work for every resident, stay up when something goes wrong, and be easy for staff to keep current. This is how we approach that work.

  • Accessibility-first builds

WCAG 2.1 AA from the first template, tested by hand before launch.

  • Independent accessibility testing

A third-party auditor verifies conformance; you get the report.

  • Managed U.S. hosting

With a managed-hosting partner in U.S. data centers. We stay accountable.

  • Security

MFA for every editor, least-privilege roles, audit logs, an incident-response plan.

  • Plain-language training

Recorded sessions and written guides for the staff who publish.

  • You own everything

Full export of content, code and data at any time. No lock-in.
